  • His agent called him yesterday and said that the Rangers wanted to bring him in
  • He doesn’t fully know why he was invited or what the circumstances around Marty Biron leaving the team are
  • He looks at his tryout with the Rangers as an opportunity to get back on the ice, workout and keep playing
  • Nothing beyond the PTO has been discussed but he hopes to get more details soon
  • He has gotten interest from other teams but decided on the Rangers because he doesn’t want to move his family again.
  • Hedberg knows Henrik Lundqvist, Anton Stralman, Ulf Samuelsson and Scott Arniel

11:51AM: According to multiple reports including Katie Strang and Pat Leonard, former Devils goalie Johan Hedberg is with the Rangers at training camp on a professional tryout.

Hedberg was bought out by the Devils after they acquired Cory Schneider.

Larry Brooks says that Martin Biron has left Rangers camp due to personal reasons and Andrew Gross says that there is currently no timetable for him to return.

Biron’s family has remained in Buffalo, where he lives in the offseason.

Steve Zipay says that the Rangers will have 66 players in camp.

Hedberg, 40, spent the past three seasons in New Jersey and was 6-10-3 last season. He was 17-7-2 in 2011-12 for the Devils.

He told Tom Gulitti last week that he was mulling over different options for his future and that his family is settled in New Jersey.

Hedberg is 12-7-2 in his career against the Rangers.
