Read: The Monkey Came Off Of Marian Gaborik’s Back
Last night, Marian Gaborik scored his first goal since 2/14, also against the Islanders, and won the game for the Rangers in OT.
In his post game interview with John Giannone on MSG, Gaborik said that he felt a boost of confidence scoring that goal and that “the monkey” came off his back a little bit.
Rick Nash said of Gaborik, “It’s a huge goal. He has one of the best shots in the league, quick release. It’s a big goal at a big time and it’s what we needed.”
Ron Duguay and Joe Micheletti spoke of how Gaborik looked better and had “more life” to his game.
Dave Maloney said that Gaborik has been “invigorated” by playing on a line with Ryan Callahan and JT Miller.
Henrik Lundqvist talked about how big players step up in key moments and that scoring goals is Gaborik’s “thing.” He added that he is “glad that he did.”
Adam Rotter: The important thing is for Gaborik to score a goal against a team that isn’t the Islanders. The last time he did that it was 1/26 and the Rangers really need him to get going as they look to improve upon their place in the standings.
