Read: Marian Gaborik Has Changed His Game/Is On A Roll

In his last three games, Marian Gaborik has five goals, three assists and 12 shots.

Following the game winner against Boston on Wednesday, Dave Maloney said on ESPN Radio “there have been a lot of times where people have questioned Gaborik’s will….well tonight, he willed that puck into the net.

After the game on Wednesday, John Tortorella said, “he has changed himself as a player since he came here. He was a perimeter guy when he got here that didn’t want to practice because he was sore. He wasn’t injured. I think he has grown so much mentally in how he conducts himself. He is always on the ice. I bet 80% of his goals last year were 5-7 feet from the net. He is a very talented player that is willing to be there.”

Adam Rotter: Just as he did last year, Gaborik is scoring big goals when the Rangers need him. He has fully bought into the Rangers system and willing to pay the price, in front of the net, on defense, along the boards, to help the Rangers win.

Should gave traded up for Mariota, all the good work the new GM did in free agency won't do any good if you can't score.

We need to stop babying these QBs.

I would hope that they would learn their lesson from Sanchez.

He has done nothing to earn this job.

I'm tired of the "give him time" crap. He's not a good QB. He was awful at West Virginia. Did you see the Viking game last year??? He is bad. We at least need Fitzpatrick to start and hopefully in the coming year Petty. I gave Geno a chance. Year one he was a rookie, I get it. Last year he was AWFUL as well. For those who say other QB's threw more interceptions?? Michael Vick started a few games and replaced Geno quite a bit. So, Geno could have had more interceptions if he played the full year and let's not forget he fumbled 5 times as well. NO MORE GENO!!!!!

Good now don't need to worry and forces on winning now

I don't disagree with their assessment of the QB position, I believe Geno is the best option overall right now. If you wanted to just win now and worry about the future later, than you can roll the dice with Fitz who knows the offense and would be a better option for just right now, but if you're looking for not only winning now but longevity than Geno is your best option. He is the most physically talented of the group and if Gailey can do something with him, the Jets would be a lot better off for it.

I wanna see the Geno that finished the season in Miami. THATS who I believe the kid really is. That being said, with the new weapons around him there has GOT to be some major improvement/CONSISTENCY.

We all want to see that Geno but very doubtful. What you see is what you get.

This is not news.  So long as Geno doesn't turn it over, he's the best QB on the roster.  Everyone here agrees that without the tunovers we win.  But, boy am I scared of those damn turnovers, God they hurt.  Sure hope they teach him to read the defense this year.

gjet93

@jetsjerk but he does turn it over. We don't win because Geno turns over.

I don't think Geno is better than Fitz

With our defense, I would let the rookie play, before I let Geno screw it up.  The pre-season will get this mess sorted out.  Geno is so bad that, as long as he is the QB, the pundits won't believe that this team has improved.  Even with the addition of Revis, Cromartie, Marshall, and the top defensive player in the draft.

don't worry brethren we got Petty waiting in the wing

You don't hear quarterback competition with Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Wilson and the other elites. Maybe the Jets feel:

a) It's Geno's job to lose,but to whom?

b) Fitz will apparently be another clipboard tutor from the sidelines, a la Brunell.

c) Matt Simms will probably be gone.  (Possibly a mistake).

I hate Chan Gailey already.

@Boozer32 not off to a good start. I guess he watched the last Miami game several times and had selective amnesia for SD, Buffalo (twice) and Detroit game views.

I'm sad/upset that the headline of this post was changed, after the fact, from the fairly accurate

"Geno pretty much named Jets starting QB"

to the less accurate

"Geno named Jets starting QB".

What Chan Gailey has to say matters.  That being said, Chan Gailey is not Todd Bowles, and Todd Bowles did not name Geno Smith the starting QB for Week 1.

There's a difference between Tim Cook, Apple CEO saying "The Apple Watch is for sale" and Doug Rabonowitz, Apple Head of Accounting saying 'The Apple watch is basically for sale, more or less".

Some dumdum just threw Bryce Harper(the hottest player in the game) and Matt Williams out of the game(for questioning a strike) in front of a sell --out crowd who did not come to see an unknown umpire....

@GreenHornet The rules are clear you don't argue balls and strikes. I applaud that dumdum.

I can't believe the team website actually included that photo in their gallery of shots from the OTA.

Someone in the PR department must not like Zac Stacy that much.

I think the jets are in serious trouble signing Mowilk and Coples!!

It  appears they will be in Cap hell next year..which is really INCREDIBLE considering they were like $80 Million Under at the start of this year!!! The Jets absolutely need a new Capologist if it's true that they are already over for NEXT year!!

Hank -

The cap is expected to rise by $10m so the Jets aren't even over the projected 2016 cap yet.

And they have NO backloaded contracts to worry about, affording them MAXIMUM flexibility to restructure deals if they have no obvious cap casualties.  The cap situation is FINE.

Cap hell?  The Jets have been $25m OVER the projected cap before and they were fine because they had plenty of flexibility.

Now I DEMAND you apologize to everyone for wasting their time.  Actually don't bother, I'm going to bed.

Lloyd Jay Reife

The highest figure I heard was $44million.  80? Not even close. The Raiders had the most at about $50MM.

1)So you're telling me that Spotrac  has it wrong........that the Jets are NOT PROJECTED OVER ??

2) By "flexibility you mean they CAN FUDGE the numbers!!

3) I think you got the apologies wrong because I did PRESENT FACTS !!!

@Brendan
That's it you just made a liar out of Bent....go ahead tell him that the Jets Cap numbers can be fudged....I dare you!!

Brendan
Brendan

@Hanknaples The NFL has people that review and approve every roster move as it relates to the salary cap. If it violates the cap it isn't approved. You do know this, right?

Brendan
Brendan

@Hanknaples So that's a no, you aren't aware that every roster move is approved by the league office?

Bent

@Hanknaples @Bent @MPTG_Frank @tsjc68

1)  Yes, Spotrac have this wrong because they are using the 2015 cap number and not factoring in the expected $10m rise.

Which means (3) that you did not present facts.

As for (2), call it what you want but they'll be able to get who they want onto their team without too much upheaval.

The operative word here is EXPECTED Bent...which means IT may or MAY NOT happen, IF it happens, IT IS NOT FACT YET !!

And Spotract is NOT wrong, you are wrong !!

IF YOU HAD READ THE OPENING STATEMENT  it said:

"A REAL TIME LOOK at 2016 salary cap........ including ESTIMATED cap space !!

Those ARE the FACTS as they stand IN REAL TIME......NOT IF time as you claim!!!

LIke is said,.....AGAIN...If my Aunt Had STONES she would be my uncle !!

As usual, you can twist this anyway you want to protect this guy BUT Frank OWES ME AN APOLOGY !!!

Plus  SPOTRAC is using WELL RESPECTED CREDIBLE sources for his information...WHERE ARE YOUR SOURCES????
