On the MSG Postgame show on Friday, former Rangers coach Mike Keenan was asked by Al Trautwig what he saw in Marian Gaborik’s game.
Keenan said that Gaborik was “electrifying” and “full of confidence on the ice.”
He said that he didn’t know why Gabby didn’t have his confidence last season, but that the way he is playing now he is a “lethal weapon that they could use every night.”
Mike Salfino writes in the Wall Street Journal, “Instead of waiting for the perfect opportunity, Gaborik’s peppering goalies with the most shots per game in the league through Saturday. His rate of 4.6 pucks on net is a 48% increase from last year. And he’s found the back of the net nine times in the Rangers’ 15 games—a 49-goal pace.”
As of yesterday, Gaborik ranked second in the league with 60 shots. He has only had fewer than three shots in a game twice this season.
He is once again playing as the most exciting Ranger in a long time. His legs are moving, he is going to the net, playing hard all over. It’s an all-star caliber season for Gabby.
