As part of the Marian Gaborik trade, the Rangers acquired defenseman John Moore from Columbus.
Moore, 22, was selected 21st in 2009, two picks after Chris Kreider and two picks ahead of Tim Erixon, and is 6-3, 202 lbs.
He is a left handed shot.
Moore has played 17 games this season, he has one assist, is a minus five, has 14 shots, 18 hits, 14 blocked shots and an average of 14:30 per game.
Last year he played 67 games for Columbus with two goals, five assists, was a minus 23, had 64 shots, 47 hits, 70 blocked shots and an average of 15:49.
The Hockey News says that Moore is “Extremely mobile defenseman with good upside.”
When he was drafted, Pierre McGuire said, “great job, mobility, size, tremendous kid, poise under fire, he is very close to being a player in the league because of his skating ability.”
Bob McKenzie said on TSN “he is an offensive minded defenseman who draws some similarities to Mike Green. He is one of the best skaters in the draft, he loves to follow the play up the ice.”
