Read: Daniel Lacroix left the Rangers to get behind the bench again

Daniel Lacroix left his job as assistant coach of the Rangers this week to join Montreal and reportedly left with “several years” remaining on his contract. (MTL)

Lacroix said that the main reason for joining Montreal was to get back behind the bench which is his preferred spot. He adds that Alain Vigneault knew that he was looking for a job behind the bench and Lacroix says that he was always looking to improve his situation.  (MTL)

  • Lacroix was behind the bench as an assistant with Tampa Bay.

He added that being closer to family in Ottawa in Montreal also played a part in him taking a job with the Habs. (MTL)

The Rangers are working on a replacement for Lacroix (NY Post) but are expected to bring in former Canucks assistant Darryl Williams.
