Read: Brad Richards Has Shown What Kind Of Leader He Is With What He Has Done In The Community

In the NY Times, Jeff Klein writes about Brad Richards and how the big role that he had taken in the community following Hurricane Sandy validates the Rangers faith in bringing in Richards to be a leader on and off the ice.

Richards reached out to Matt Long, who lost his house in the Hurricane, and went out to Breezy Point with Steve Eminger and Marian Gaborik gutting flood damaged houses with a crowbar and sledgehammer.

Richards told Long that he wanted no recognition for his work, saying “If someone knows who I am and I bring a smile to their face, great. If not, I’d rather make them smile just helping people.”

Richards said that the work he is doing is what anyone in his position would do.

it's amazing how great organizations like the packers continually do well drafting.  that offense is loaded.  And every yr. it seems like they let players from that unit go only to be replaced by more studs.  davante adams is who i wanted in the 2nd and oh look.

And then they come up with these awesome game plans to get the ball in everybody's hands.  whether from the backfield, mismatching, timing, running.  man they do it all.  watching that game was like watching a workshop on offense.  rex should've been watching.

wonder if we'll ever get competent coaches to come in here and build something similar.  and don't tell me "rogers"  they drafted and coached rogers up.  yes he was good but now he's great.

these defensive coaches have done nothing these past 2 decades for us.  time to go offense.

man idzik messed up this year.  what a grand opportunity missed to fix this offense.  man what a waste.

can't wait to celebrate rex and perhaps idzik's firing on black monday or hopefully tomorrow after a monday night debacle.

@bharper42 It's weird when fans go "see!? Look how good this guy is doing!" when they play with an elite QB, or in Adams' case the best QB in the league. If Adams was on this team he'd have no production and he'd be one of Idzik's 47 missed draft picks.

@bailey

KC was the team Idzik said was going to take McDougle if we didn't...

just like Seattle tried to claim we would have taken Bruce Irvin instead of Coples a couple years ago!

Now I know what Idzik did in Seattle!!!

Made excuses for the lousy picks!

@bailey been there done that, he's ok about a .500 coach, a good coordinator and that's it

@bailey whoever Idzik drafts if he's still here it won't make sense

@bailey Probably Scherff.  Closely followed by Peat or Ogbuehi.

@bailey

Probably Scherff. But I don't think we're in a position to use that #1 pick on an offensive lineman.

Ha Ha that's awesome. Rogers is better he proven that tonight.. Ha Ha Brady, Rogers is better heck he beat you and you have Revis and a great backfield and Greenbay still won..

@Brendan Tom Brady reacts to hearing that Marvel still likes him.

@Brendan can he be fined for this like rex was? or did a referee actually here rex curse and that is why he  was fined??

When angered, the snapping turtle can be a dangerous beast. See the ferocity with which it snaps its head forward, earning the moniker of "snapping."

@Brendan @bharper42 he's still a stud and is talented.  you need talent and not scrubs like pryor and injury riddled guys like mcdougle.  he will only get better.

or do we have to land aaron rogers before we start drafting talented wr

Marcus81, who is on your radar screen for hc?

bailey

I worry about that

bailey

I think we need to draft o line first, maybe even 2nd then draft a qb, qb should be a pocket passer quick release and be accurate

@BAILEY Keep an eye on La'el Collins though.  Could see him rising big time.  I reckon he's got a shot at going high.

You don't think our online needs an upgrade?

@bharper42 Pryor has plenty of talent.

Dex is not "injury riddled." He had a shoulder injury last year and a knee injury this year. Unrelated injuries, more bad luck than anything.

The team has talented WR's right now, they don't have a talented QB.

@JCuratola3 @a57se @bailey

At the time of the draft, Irvin was considered a 2nd or 3rd round talent and Seattle took him at 15...

@bailey I'm in favor of cleaning house and letting a top GM make that decision, only way to hire a top GM is to let them do things their way and make the big decisions

If we luck out and pick 5th or better than I think you have to take either Mariota or Winston if they're there, then look to grab any one of the top OT's second.     It could work the reverse if both Mariota and Winston are already gone by time we pick...take one of the tackles, like Peat, Scherff or Collins, etc., and then circle back to take a QB like Connor Cook or Grayson in the 2nd.

There are some good G's in this draft, too...Jackson, Matias, Koundarjio, Cann, etc. that also warrant a look.   Some might still be on board in 3rd round.

Collins looks good, bent would yu take him first round

@Bent @BAILEY

While we're on the subject of prospects we shouldn't draft, I'd recommend taking a look at Terry Williams on Eastern Carolina.

Beastly NT that's slipping under the radar so far.

We won't get him, but he's fun to watch.

@bailey

I think we just signed a RT and there's no good reason to replace Brick right now. So I think who the best OL in this draft is doesn't matter, or at least shouldn't.

bharper42
bharper42

@Brendan @bharper42 had they drafted WR they wouldn't have had to waste money on harvin who's still a maybe.

being out 2 years due to injury is being injury riddled.

I think the eagles will trade with raiders so they can get mariota, do will risk it on Winston? His season is very poor compared to last year? Has he peaked.?

bailey
bailey

I am worried that Marcus mariota is not a pro qb, relies on speed and once he gets dinged up he will be a rg3 all over again, pocket passers who read defenses and have a quick release while being accurate, I seem to think that guy is grayson he did have a bad game against Air Force though,

@bailey

I'm not personally completely sold yet (although I have more research to carry out on that front).  I just have heard underground buzz that his stock might be on the rise.

As a pass protector he has some sparkling numbers this year and that is sure to turn heads.  He does look to be extremely reliable in pass pro and he's obviously powerful with long arms, although his run blocking technique looks like it needs a bit of work.  I'd like to review him against an elite rusher in depth at some point.

Yes, I think he should go in the first, but I don't know if he will go as early as the Jets will pick (although he might) and I don't know if tackle will be a top priority for the Jets.

@juunit @Bent @BAILEY

Yeah, that's exactly what we need!

ANOTHER D'Lineman!!!

We'll never hear the end of BS rants!

Brendan
Brendan

@bharper42 Adams is still a maybe. And they used at-worst a 4th to get harvin, and since they have to spend money to meet spending minimums, the money spent on Harvin is actually a necessary thing.

A non-contact knee injury happens all the time, it's just bad luck. If he does it again you can call him injury riddled.

a57se
a57se

@JCuratola3 @a57se

My point?

You mean you didn't understand it?

OK,

Here it is...

Seattle was getting heat for taking Irvin way too early so the played it off like the Jets were going to take him if they didn't take the plunge...

John Idzik was with Seattle then.

Zoom forward to 2014 and the Jets select McDougle in the third round (he was generally considered a 4th or 5th rounder at best) and they start getting some heat for reaching and all of a sudden it was KC who would have taken McDougle if we didn't jump...

Idzik is the GM.

Coincidence? Maybe...

Very similar situation and very similar story circulating...

bharper42
bharper42

@Brendan @bharper42 no i can and am calling him injury riddled.  adams is a great player and the harvin money could've been spent on players in fa.

there was no point hoarding the money all year and then spending it on harvin.  could've spent it on players after the season as well.

just bad managment, drafting, and overall just bad.

looking forward to the bottom so we can bounce and start going up.  this is horrible.

Brendan
Brendan

@bharper42 They can still spend money on players next offseason, they have a lot of cap space and can easily free up more by cutting players. Money is not an issue, not even remotely. The money spent on Harvin was held out to spend on Harvin, so acting like it prevented other signings is also off-base. It was just the team getting a very talented player for cheap draft compensation.

bharper42
bharper42

@Brendan @bharper42 the money was held so they can spend on harvin?  you know this how?  They could've used that money to bring in good FA and drafted very talented players at either WR or CB.  they blew it and here we are.

nothing more to say really.
