Read: Glen Sather on Coaching and Making Changes

SatherWhile at the Edmonton Oil Kings Alumni Golf Tournament, celebrating the 50th anniversary of their Memorial Cup win, Rangers President and GM Glen Sather was asked about the Rangers coaching change.

Sather said, “coaching philosophies on team don’t change an awful lot. I think you need to change your coach once in a while because your players get tired of listening to him. It’s easier to change the coach than it is to change 30 players. It doesn’t make him a bad coach, the two coaches that swapped teams this year, I am sure they are both great guys and great coaches. I am getting to know AV now. He is a terrific guy and Tortorella is a great guy. It’s just time to move on. I fired myself when I was coaching here because it was time to move on and make a change.”

Sather spoke a lot about the coaching change during Alain Vigneault’s press conference.
