Note: Kris Newbury Contract Details

According to Cap Geek, earlier this week the Rangers sign Kris Newbury to a two year deal that has an NHL cap hit of $512,000 per year.

His salary in the first year in the NHL is $500,000 and his second season is $525,000.

He has an AHL salary of $250,000 each year

The Rangers have come to terms with forward Kris Newbury

Newbury, 28, played in 18 games with Hartford last season where he had 4 goals and 14 assists.

He was acquired last season for Jordan Owens. He had 11 goals and 22 assists for Grand Rapids before the trade with 144 PIM’s.

Newbury is 5-10 and 205lbs. He has 7 points in 48 career NHL games

He had a cap hit last season of $500,000.

News: Rangers Trade Jordan Owens For Kris Newbury

The Rangers have made the deal official with a press release, which is after the jump

Original Post: 12:54PM: Darren Dreger tweets that the Rangers have traded left winger Jordan Owens to Detroit for center Kris Newbury.

Newbury, 28, has 11 goals and 22 assists in 52 games for Grand Rapids of the AHL

He is a free agent at the end of the season. He is 5-10, 205lbs

Newbury has played 48 career NHL games over four seasons with Toronto and Detroit. This season he played four games and had one goal.

Owens, 23, is signed for next season with a cap hit of $515,000.

For Hartford this season he has six goals and 13 assists in 50 games for Hartford. He has been part of Wolf Pack since 2006-07. He is 6-0 180lbs

…Interesting start to the day for the Rangers. I have a strange feeling that I liked Owens during training camp. Maybe not, but I definitely remember him
