Read: Glen Sather is enjoying the Alain Vigneault era

When Glen Sather hired Alain Vigneault last June he said, “I think he is one of the top coaches in the NHL and we are very fortunate to be able to sign him. He has worked in a lot of big markets and he knows the type of system what we like to have here, it’s the same system he has had in Vancouver for the past seven years. He has been very successful. He is articulate, intelligent and well organized. He loves the offensive game which a lot of us do today and I think that today’s game has changed and I particularly enjoy that style of game.”

In speaking in April, Sather said that Vigneault has been everything the Rangers hoped he would be when he was hired. He said that Vigneault is well organized and gets along well with the players as well as the media. (NY Times)

Sather adds that he likes the way the Rangers play, likes their up-tempo practices and games and says that Vigneault “has been terrific.” (NY Times)

Sather said during media day of the Stanley Cup Final that he and Vigneault have fun together and have a good relationship.

Brad Richards said that Vigneault really helped the Rangers deal with the ups and downs with the early part of the season. (NY Post)

 Q. Can you, I guess, describe how you’re feeling, how the team is feeling, what you take away from an effort like that.
COACH VIGNEAULT: Well, obviously everybody’s very disappointed in the outcome. That being said, I think in a couple of days, you know, we’re going to reflect.

Recap: Alain Vigneault’s comments today

Alain Vigneault met with the media after the Rangers arrived and practiced in LA:

 Q. You’ve said before you’ve played well in this building the first two games, but it didn’t come across, surrendered the two‑goal leads. How do you prevent that kind of event while still playing well?
COACH VIGNEAULT: Well, you know, the three games that we’ve played in this building, we’ve played well. We’ve played well throughout the year on the road. We just had a two‑goal lead and were able to hang onto it.
I’m feeling good about our chances tomorrow. We know that we can play better than we did yesterday. That’s what we’re going to try and do.

Recap: Alain Vigneault’s post game comments

Alain Vigneault met with the media after the Rangers 2-1 win over LA (Via the NHL):

 Q. How would you describe your team’s performance tonight and how proud are you of the way they played?
COACH VIGNEAULT: Well, it was a real tough game I think for L.A. It was probably their best game of the playoffs that they’ve played against us.
I thought we were real good until they scored their first goal, their only goal, when Dan broke his stick. I thought after that we weren’t maybe as efficient as we had been until that time.
But our guys competed. I mean, they’re a real good team. They threw everything they had at us. Our goaltender stood tall, gave us a chance.
We have another chance. We get to play.
