  • On Anthony Duclair, “I think it’s real simple. He needs to focus on the next game. He is playing well and to his strengths. He is creating real good opps for him and his teammates on the ice and it’s a daily process and like some of the other younger guys, he has caught our attention. There are 3 games left and we will take the time that we need to make the right decisions.”

Recap: Alain Vigneault’s post game comments

Alain VigneaultAlain Vigneault met with the media following the Rangers win over Chicago (NYR):

  • On the young guys, “I liked the way that a lot of our young guys got their first opportunty and came on the ice and contributed. It was an exhibition game and some mistakes at both ends but there was some real positive signs. I thought Duclair showed that he definitely has wheels and made some nice moves and I am sure that for a first game the young man was excited. Overall I thought that except maybe for a stretch in the second, our game was pretty good. Our puck control was all right, coming out of the zone and in the offensive end. First exhibition game on the road, I thought it was all right.”

Recap: Alain Vigneault’s comments today (On Kevin Hayes, Anthony Duclair and centers)

Alain VigneaultAlain Vigneault met with the media today following the Rangers practice (NYR):

  • On Centers,”I would say that it doesn’t hurt but also say that with Step being out, that opens up a hole bunch of possibilities and opportunities. With Richie being gone and Brian Boyle not coming back, he gave us some depth there, this gives us an opportunity with Oscar and JT to Hayes to Mueller, Marty texted me last night to say that he was ready if needed in the middle. I think we will find a way. The next five games we will give an opportunity with our kids and Lombardi and from their play we will make the decisions.”

Alain VigneaultAlain Vigneault met with the media today after the Rangers conditioning skates (LoHud via Soundcloud):

  • Do you know more on Stepan, “we will know more this afternoon what the final determination is. It is what it is, unfortunately Step got hurt, he was feeling real good the last 48 hours, came in this morning, had a third x-ray done, and stepped on the ice and unfortunately he got hurt. We will know this afternoon the length. Normally a broken whatever is 4-6, so it’s sort of unexpected.”

Recap: Alain Vigneault’s post game comments

Alain VigneaultAlain Vigneault met with the media following the Rangers 5-4 loss to the Devils (NYR)

  • On Ryan Malone and JT Miller, “I thought that JT had some good moments. You can see the skill set and he was battling hard on the puck, made some nice plays. For a first exhibition game, a chance to see him in the middle, I think he did some good things. Ryan, it was his first game in a long time, he did a good job on the PP. Most guys are playing 12-15-16 minutes. I thought that for the most part it was a step in the right direction and a chance for the coaches to evaluate him and take it from there.”
