In total, the Rangers are projected to have 10 players score over 40 points:

Dan Girardi: Among the league leaders in ice time and rarely misses a game

  • 81 games: 5 goals and 25 assists

Carl Hagelin: Progressing nicely, but don’t look for him on power play because he “stinks” there

  • 80 games: 20 goals and 25 assists

Ryan McDonagh: Tied for fifth in even-strength points from defensemen

  • 80 games: 7 goals and 23 assists

  • 77 games, 30 goals and 25 assists

Michael Del Zotto: Doesn’t post huge numbers, bue he’s on power play and 40-point D-men are rare

  • 78 games: 8 goals and 32 assists

Note: The Hockey News Metro Division Predictions

The Hockey News has released their 2013-14 yearbook and their predictions for how the Metropolitan division standings will shake out.

They have the Penguins finishing in first place and the Rangers in second place and the Flyers in third place.

The division standings are:

  • Penguins
  • Rangers
  • Flyers
  • Blue Jackets
  • Islanders
  • Washington
  • Carolina
  • Devils

All three of those teams have playoff spots locked up. They predict that only three of the eight Eastern Conference playoff spots will come from the Metro division and that Montreal and Toronto will pick up the last two spots and both finish with more points than Columbus (picked 4th in the Metro division).

Stats: Projecting Henrik Lundqvist’s Season

LundqvistIn The Hockey News “Pool Guide,” they have Henrik Lundqvist appearing in 74 games this season and finishing 11th in the league in wins with 38.

Their stat line for Lundqvist is 38-23-6-7 with a save percentage of .925 and a GAA of 2.10.

Tuuka Rask, Johnathan Quick and Craig Anderson are the only goalies with more projected wins  to have lower GAA than Lundqvist.

The only goalies with more wins and a higher save percentage are Tuuka Rask and Craig Anderson.

Martin Biron is predicted to go 6-5-3-1 with a .910 save percentage and a 2.41 goals against.

Stats: Point Projections For The Rangers Defense
