Recap: Scott Arniel’s pre game comments

Scott Arniel, Alain Vigneault Scott Arniel spoke with John Giannone on MSG before the game:

  • On the last five games, “obviously if we go back to the fifth one it was a step to get us where we are today. Every game had it’s own, played out in it’s own way. At the end of the day it’s about what happens tonight. We did some great things in Montreal and there are some good numbers but it all goes away if we come home and don’t play the same way. We need to make sure that our A game is here, it’s not coming home to be comfortable, it’s making sure we get after Montreal and getting them on their heels.”

  • On the killer instinct, “we have been talking about small steps and saying it since game seven against Philly. Lets worry about the first shift, the first period, it’s been a couple of days since our last game and we need to come out with a good start and not get looking at where we may be after the game but where we are after the first period.”
  • On special teams, “you need to make sure at this time of the year that they aren’t hurting you and it was a struggle in the Philly series but we found some life in both areas against Pittsburgh, a very dominant team with special teams but at the end of the day it was real good for us. In this series we need to keep our foot on the gas on the PP or make sure we get positive results from whether it be goals or scoring chances. Our PK needs to frustrate them and not allow them any momentum.”
