Alain Vigneault said on Friday that he is in the process of hiring a third assistant coach and that it should happen in the next couple of weeks.
The new assistant coach will join Scott Arniel and Ulf Samuelsson who have already been announced as assistant coaches.
In regards to roles, Vigneault said that Arniel will handle the power play, Samuelsson will handle the PK and the third assistant coach will be an “eye in the sky” and someone who helps with practice planning, pre-scouting, skill work and player development.
He said that he and Glen Sather have each shared some ideas about who can fill that role.
Benoit Allaire will remain as goaltending coach, Jerry Dineen is staying on as video coach and Jim Schoenfeld will no longer be a member of the coaching staff but continue in his role as assistant GM.
