Alain Vigneault met with the media on MSG after the Rangers beat the Jets:
- What did you like most, “we were playing in a very tough environment against a very big team and I thought for the most part we did what we had to do on the road to come up with the win. That goal at the end of the second was very big for us, a couple of seconds left in the period and in the third we did what we had to do to protect the lead and get the two points.
- On the PK, “Our guys did a real good job of getting in lanes and blocking the shots that needed to be blocked and that is part of having a good PK.”
- On the forward lines, “the fact that we were 3 in 4 and back to back on the road I needed to play our whole bench and we did for the most part I think we kept our shift lengths that we have to, they are a big team and a good team and spent a lot of time in our zone and I think for the most part we did a good job of keeping them to the outside. Our goalie had to make some big saves and he did at the right time.”
- On Marty St. Louis’ new line, “they had some moments, it was a 4 line rotation and they had some moments. Tonight the big line was Brad’s line with Hags and Poolie, it looked a like his former line. He was playing with Hags and before he was playing with Cally and Cally was the net presence always driving the net and Poolie does that and does it really well. I thought that the other lines were pretty good and hopefully we will get some chemistry going with Brass’ line.”
