Recap: Alain Vigneault pre game comments

Alain VigneaultSam Rosen spoke with Rangers coach Alain Vigneault on the MSG pre game show before the Rangers played the Hurricanes:

  • On being on the road for so long, “same way we have been doing it, one game at a time. We have to make sure that we analyze the schedule properly, that we get the proper rest and practice time, proper traveling, we are doing a good job there and analyzing everything that has to be analyzed and making the right calls.”

  • On Derek Stepan, “we had a conversation when he got back from the Olympics saying that he wanted to assume a bigger role and was ready to assume the challenge and he certainly lived up to his own expectation and ours. Step is a real solid player, two-way player, real smart, competes hard and right now we need him to play the way he is doing, that line has been really effective and we need that line to continue.”
  • Does something change with Cam Ward in net tonight, “another great goalie. Cam has a Stanley Cup ring, he is solid goalie that gives his team a chance to win every night. So for us we will focus on our game, our execution and playing fast and when we do that we believe we are really tough to play against and that is what we need to do tonight.”
  • On Henrik Lundqvist, “the only thing on Henrik’s mind tonight is to win the game and stop the puck and he obviously knows that he is a big part of our success, he needs to play like Hank does and he has been doing that in the last few games.”
