Ben Kuzma writes in the Vancouver Province that a big difference between John Tortorella’s time in Tampa Bay and his time in NY was assistant coach Craig Ramsay.
Ramsay acted as a positive voice to the players to counter all the intensity that Tortorella brings.
Kuzma writes that Alain Vigneault had the same kind of relationship with Rick Bowness in Vancouver.
Bowness said that he and Vigneault would scream at each other behind the scenes but always present a united front when approaching the players.
Vigneault said yesterday that it will be important for his assistant coaches to not only be smart, but also to help create a positive environment for the organization.
Vigneault said he is hoping for one coach to work on the PP, one that works on the PK and guys that are upbeat and positive, “It’s so much easier to come into an environment, and that is my job as a head coach, to create that environment, where guys are coming in and they want to come to the rink and work, I need to have the right people surrounding me. I have always had strong people and I will do the same here.”
