When he was announced as head coach of the Vancouver Canucks, John Tortorella noted that leading up to his hiring he and Alain Vigneault were talking every other day about the strange situation of swapping jobs.
Since both men assumed their new positions the conversations have stopped. Tortorella told the Vancouver Sun that the two haven’t spoken in a few months and that both men probably wanted to leave the other alone as they get used to their new teams.
When they did talk though, they discussed what each other could expect from their new teams.
Tortorella explained to Vigneault how things worked with Glen Sather and the mechanics of the organization. Tortorella added that he loved coaching the Rangers, loved being in New York and certainly didn’t want to be fired out of there.
