In the Daily News, Pat Leonard writes that Alain Vigneault is the most logical choice to replace John Tortorella as head coach of the Rangers.
83% of readers want Vigneault to become the next Rangers coach.
Vigneault’s former assistant coach Rick Bowness said in the Daily News that Vigneault gave a lot of freedom to his players to take charge of what was going on with the team on the ice and in the locker room.
Vigneault reportedly established a system of peer pressure and accountability with his players.
Henrik Sedin told NHL.com in 2011, “He treats us extremely well. He knows when to come in and say stuff, and he knows when we can take care of it ourselves. I think that’s the sign of a good coach. He’s been with us throughout this whole journey and we’ve learned how to treat each other.”
Former Ranger Mikael Samuelsson said that Vigneault leaves a lot of things for the players to figure out and he appreciates the responsibility it puts on the players.
