In a meeting with the media prior to the start of Rangers training camp, Alain Vigneault revealed that he has a miniature Stanley Cup sitting on his desk that he uses to remind himself of the ultimate goal
In a chat with the Rangers website before camp, Vigneault said that he loves being with an organization that leaves no stone unturned in their pursuit of the Stanley Cup. He adds that it’s his job to make sure that the players are prepared and understand the commitment and process it takes every day to reach the Stanley Cup final.
Vigneault said that his experience of being one game from winning the Stanley Cup motivates and drives him and that he needs to help the players understand that they need to be better every day and hold each other accountable. He says that if that happens and the team does the right things, they will have a chance to compete in June.
John Giannone tweeted “Derrick Brassard says with this roster, this goaltender & a new voice/ideas, the realistic NYR goal should be nothing less than Stanley Cup.”
John Tortorella would not talk about the Stanley Cup and was not happy when James Dolan said that the Rangers were “close.”
