At Sports Illustrated, Allan Muir writes that the contract the Rangers signed Ryan McDonagh to was one of the best contracts signed this summer.
McDonagh signed a contract worth$28.2 million over six years and carries a cap hit of $4.7 million.
McDonagh’s salary per year breaks down as:
- 13-14: $4 million
- 14-15: $4.3 million
- 15-16: $4.5 million
- 16-17: $5 million
- 17-18: $5.1 million
- 18-19: $5.3 million
Muir says that the first two-years of the contract may be a little steep for the Rangers but the final four should turn into bargains based on how McDonagh’s career has progressed so far. He calls those last four years of McDonagh’s contract, a “clear win” for the Rangers.
