At NHL.com, Matt Cubeta looks at Ryan McDonagh as a possible offensive sleeper for defensemen this coming season.
Cubeta says that with McDonagh entering his third full season with the Rangers and that his points per game has increased each of his three seasons in the NHL.
- 10-11: 0.23 (1 goal, 8 assists in 40 games)
- 11-12: 0.39 (7 goals and 25 assists in 82 games)
- 12-13: 0.40 (4 goals and 15 assists in 47 games)
Cubeta thinks, as John Tortorella noted at the end of last season, that McDonagh should be used on the power play more this coming season.
He projects a season of eight goals and 31 assists with 8 points on the power play this season for McDonagh.
This isn’t the first time in the summer that McDonagh has been mentioned as a sleeper.
