Earlier in the summer, Ryan Callahan and Dan Girardi spoke about how their individual style of play won’t change as the overall team concept shifts from John Tortorella to Alain Vigneault.
In a chat with Craig Custance at ESPN Insider, Callahan said that his style “can’t change” and that while systems and situations could change, how he plays on the ice and how he goes about trying to help the Rangers win won’t change.
Ryan McDonagh told Custance, “I’m still going to go in the corners, I have to be physical and stand net-side on the guy,. As a defenseman, you have to be trusted to defend and keep the puck out of your net. If you’re not going to do that, it doesn’t matter who your coach is.”
Callahan and McDonagh also spoke about the identity of the Rangers comes from the players in the room.
