Read: Matt Cooke Apologized To Ryan McDonagh For Elbowing Him

On March 20, 2011 the Penguins Matt Cooke elbowed Ryan McDonagh in the Rangers 5-2 win over the Pengs.

Cooke was suspended for the final
ten games of the season and the first round of the playoffs.

In a chat with the Star Tribune this week, McDonagh said that he didn’t suffer a concussion from the elbow, it hit him more in the jaw, and that he didn’t miss any games as the Rangers were fighting for the playoffs.

McDonagh said that Cooke emailed him to apologize and that was the end of the situation.

The Rangers made the playoffs that season when Tampa Bay beat Carolina on the last day of the season.
