11:59AM: In a chat at ESPN.com, Strang writes that the Rangers and McDonagh re expected to come to terms on a deal soon and that she has heard they are willing to deviate from their normal two-year bridge contracts and sign him for a longer term.
11:57AM: Katie Strang tweets that that McDonagh’s deal is expected to be done soon but that the contracts for Derek Stepan and Carl Hagelin don’t appear imminent.
11:30AM: In the Daily News, Pat Leonard writes that there is an expectation that the Ranger will get defenseman Ryan McDonagh locked up in the next day or two so they can limit the amount of time another team could have to send him an offer sheet.
Teams can start sending offer sheets to McDonagh at noon today.
Earlier this week McDonagh’s agent said that there was still work that needed to be done to get a deal done between the Rangers and McDonagh. It is expected that McDonagh’s new contract will be worth more than $4 million per season and be somewhere between 3 and 5 years.
