Read: Rick Nash’s Comments Today

Rick NashRick Nash will play the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight for the first time since he was traded in July of 2012.

Nash spoke with the media today prior to the game and said (Rangers):

  • On not being able to play in Columbus, “it would have been fun to go but now that they are in the same division I am sure we will be able to do that. It was unfortunate that I didn’t get to go.”
  • On Brandon Dubinsky saying he was traded because NY like flash, “I can’t comment on his comments but for me, I know he has gone to a great city, good organization and I was happy to become a Ranger. It was a dream of mine to play for an Original Six and live in New York City. It’s all positive.”

  • Anything about NY that has surprised you, “just the drive out to the practice rink. That is the only thing that has been tough. Everything else has been unbelievable.”
  • On the end in Columbus, “I think it could have been a bit smoother of I guess I can call it an exit, everyone was honest and everyone was in the same boat and it ended up getting a little messy. At the end of the day when someone asks to move on in their career you have to assume that it will get messy. The only thing that kept me going was that the fans stayed behind me, they understood my decision and situation. I kind of honor that in the fans for how they understood.”
  • On when he played at MSG with Columbus, “I hope not. That was, we talked about that when we first got here. I think you have to appreciate the passion of the Ranger fans. It’s unbelievable and I am pretty lucky to strap on my skates and play in front of these fans.”
