News: Rick Nash Won’t Return After Elbow To Head (Updates)

Rick Nash9:23AM: Todd McLellan said after the game, “They called an elbow. Rick didn’t return, I haven’t had a chance to look at it again. No one has told me anything other than it being a normal hit.”

1:22PM: Nash said on MSG:

  • “I have a headache, it got worse. It was a head shot. I’m concerned the way it feels…You’re concerned any time there’s a head shot.”
  • Are you concerned, “anytime you get a head shot you are concerned, you feel the way that it feels. It’s not a good feeling.

1:12AM: Nash told Larry Brooks that he had a headache after the hit, it got worse and that he is “concerned the way it feels.”

12:39PM: McKenzie notes that the Rangers biggest concern is the health of Nash after he missed time last season with a concussion from Milan Lucic.

12:35AM: Bob McKenzie tweets that the NHL Department of Player Safety will ask “Was it body on body hit with incidental head contact or was it more of a glancing blow that could have been avoided by taking a better line?”

12:04AM: The Rangers have announced that Rick Nash will not return to tonight’s game after talking an elbow from Brad Stuart in the first period.

Stuart was called for the penalty at 2:32 of the first period but Nash played seven more shifts, after the elbow, and a total of 5:53 in the first.
