Buzz: The Teams On Rick Nash’s List

According to Darren Dreger, joining the Rangers, Flyers and Sharks on Rick Nash’s trade list, are the Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins and possibly the Carolina Hurricanes.

Dreger thinks that Howson will be able to hit a “home run” with one of the teams in that group.

Pittsburgh, Detroit and Carolina all want after either Ryan Suter, Zach Parise or both.

Adam Rotter: This is where it gets interesting. Pittsburgh was all in on getting Parise and Nash would be in a great, no pressure, position to be the third guy on the Penguins. Detroit seems to want to make a big move but they need a defenseman to help transition to the post Nick Lidstrom era. Carolina is the team to worry about if you want Nash. They seem willing to do everything they can to make themselves into a contender and if Nash is willing to accept a move, I think he ends up in Carolina.

Kiper Jr.: Jet not top defensive rookie

ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. posted his NFL all-rookie team , along with his picks for offensive and defensive rookies of the year. Most notably, he selected Buffalo Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso over New York Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson as the top rookie on defense.

Alonso and Richardson are thought to be the top candidates for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, presented by the Associated Press.

Kiper's take: "If this were purely on per-play impact, I think Sheldon Richardson could back up his case as the best rookie overall, but I give Alonso a slight edge here based on his total impact. Alonso was third in the NFL in tackles and, perhaps just as impressive, was one of the best coverage linebackers in the NFL, a significant bonus. Because of his ability to cover, Alonso never came off the field; he played nearly 1,200 snaps. Richardson might be a better player, but I give the season edge to Alonso."

@DrJonathanReefer imagine how pissed Boss would be if he didn't even get nominated? Between that and Wilk getting 2nd team all-pro and snubbed for the pro-bowl, there'd be a lot of offensive corpses littering many fields next year.

@DrJonathanReefer I don't think this is the legit ROY awards. The real awards are separated by offense/defense. I think this is just some fan thing.

@jaym Translation: I didn't bother watching any Bills/Jets games this year, so I'm just going to go with total tackles and call it a day.

@rstysanchz

Yes it is and Sheldon Richardson said he switched to Coca Cola after hearing the results!

All good Jets fans should do the same! Boycott PEPSI!!!

@Brendan@jaym

Kiper is an idiot as well. ESPN is the spawning ground for idiots apparently.

i have to admit i didnt know much about sheldon coming out of college so when we drafted him i was puzzled...but after his first interview i knew he was gonna be good...noone with that much confidence turns out to be a dud...we talkin the same pepsi who did the awful sanchez commercial that was played nonstop on gamedays like 2 or 3 years ago

@jake100 It's always tougher for at team to meet expectations when you're supposed to be something as opposed to over achieving when the pressures off and nobody expects it.

So I don't agree this year the tough part starts.
