IMO Sather earned his money this week. He made smart deals bolstered our D and added a good face off winning center who can play both wings just as well saved enough money to sign Zuccarello I think it worked out well. The Rangers paid a lot with the picks but honestly picks are just that.....we can always find other talent through FA and trades......Lets Go Rangers!

NHL.com has report so I'm assuming it's official

Glad to see this. He's played really well since Christmas. A catylyst for sure.

I guess I'm in the minority with Zucc. I don't see him as vital as many of the fans do. He is certainly not worth $4.5M per as reported. If Sather does sign him, how will it effect the signing of Step and Hags this off season and also Kreider, Yandle and Hayes next off season. Hard to believe the Rangers who are having cap issues now will be able to sign the 5 other players who I believe are better than Zucc. He will in all likelihood, never score more than 25 goals in a season (in fact, he probably won't score more than 20). he is already 27 years; which is not the prime years in the NHL. Sorry guys, I think Sather drops the ball if he signs Zucc to a long term deal at $4.5 per.

@Michael Stewart sometimes chemistry is important.  The team loves him, the coaches love him, and most of the fans love him. I was thinking about the 1980 USA Olympic team and Herb Brooks asking the players if these were the guys you wanted to go to battle with.  I think Zucc is that kind of guy.  The players WANT him out there battling each game.

I agree that 20 goals might be his limit, but that's only because he thinks pass first.  If the team could ever get him thinking that it was important for him to score and not just make passes, he could get 20-30 easily imo.

Hopefully with this deal out of his mind, he'll start putting up some serious points.  He's one of the most creative passers I've ever seen.

@Gary Wien @Michael Stewart understand your points, however; I hope players like Step, Hags, Kreider, Hayes and even Yandle are re-signed over the next two seasons. Hopefully; Zucc's deal won't hinder signing any of them/

I'm not a fan of Zucc myself, IMO he is overrated. It wouldn't bother me one bit if he is traded.

Sather dropped the ball yesterday. Yandle wasn't needed and they could've gotten a better haul for Duclair and a 1st.

A physical defenseman was needed. This team needs someone to clear the front of the net. A big talented, physical forward was also needed to get to the net and fight for pucks in the corner.

I think many of these trades freed up space so we could sign Zucc.......that would be great he means a lot to tis team.

No reports of this being finalized and it's been a little while since first report of deal being close. Wonder if something is holding this up or they aren't announcing until tomorrow.

This is the perfect deal for the Rangers. looks like Sather isn't as dumb as some of you think. He stood strong on his number and looks like he'll get it.

We didn't need Yandle but now we probably have the best defense in the league. It was sad to see such a good prospect in Duclair go but we improved our team by the trade as long as we can keep Yandle in NY. Although Zucc isn't worth much more than $4 mil / year, the fans love him and we have the money to keep. I don't want to see him go, so I'm fine with the Rangers overpaying him.

This is good. The Rangers parted with Anthony Duclair today which makes me cringe, and I would hate to see another fan favorite go. ZUCCC!

Which teams might be interested in Zuccs?
Montreal? Anaheim? Calgary? Winnipeg? San Jose? Vancouver? St Louis? Dallas? Colorado? Ottawa? Detroit? Tampa Bay? (our 1st round pick back) well that's 2hrs per team for our GM to do something.
