For all those bitching about MSL age. The guy is a freak of Nature and can probably play another 6 years.  Teemu Selanne was a PPG player at age 40 and just under at 41.  MSL is cut from that mold.  I bet he maintains a level close to what he is at now for another 3 years and plays for another 6.  MSL @ age 38 for Captain Meatshield?  Any day of the week

Yes Capt. Greedy could have stayed but he really wants to go to buffalo. Via Tampa Good luck with that. Welcome Marty St. Louis.

Nope the Rangers gave up too much for a soon to be 39 year old 5'6 winger.

Great trade. NHL is all about the cup, and thats what this trade is all about

Yes Slats had to do it! I Love Cally but hes not a top scorer and we need more goals and less grit at this time.

Mixed emotions. Will miss Cally, Love MSL. It could turn into Call, 1st for MSL or it could be Cally as a rental and 2 firsts if NYRS gets to east finals. I want to keep he 1st and win the cup next yr lol

Bring up Haley to replace Carcillo

Trade Stralman, replace with McIlrath.

Dump Boyle anywhere.

Possibly trade Stepan if the right deal comes along.

Toughness is addressed to compete with Boston, and the St. Louis deal plus whatever we can get for Stepan should address the need for skill.

so msl is a great player but at 38 for how long.

the 2014 2nd rounder goes to a 1st rounder if we make the conf finals in a weaker conf.

the good part is if cally signs with tb and we get a 2 and give a 7.

i would rather sather made the resigning of cally by tampa the real linchpin that would set the draft pick compensation in motion as far as extra picks.

this hurts our future and sather panicked imo and gave up too much for a player of msl age no matter how good he's supposed to be.

this has dolan and his knicks sop written all over it, hopefully the results aren't the same and the rangers aren't crippled for years too come.

Great trade.  Cally was out of his mind asking for far too much.  Sather was out of his mind offering 6/6yrs.

St. Louis is in great shape and, if he remains healthy, could be playing for years to come.

St. Louis is a game changer.  Cally, not so much

Not thrilled about them giving up a 1st and a 2nd rd draft pick...

Happy about it?  No, but its a good trade for the Rangers.  Cally wanted too much money for what he is.  I loved him for everything he did for us, but the numbers he wanted are too hard to justfy for what he gives you in my opinion.  Best of luck to him.

Add'l 2 picks??! For a deal that should've been 1 for 1, when you have a player [MSL] who does not want to be in his current situation (@38 yo) whose contract extends only through next season at $5.625 million per year. Boooo Sather!  For that, you keep Ryan and play the season out! MSL needs to score 2-3 goals a week!!!

Best part of this deal is not signing Cally to a horrible 6 year $6M+ deal.

After being physically destroyed by Philly this past weekend it's obvious where we need help. Philly gets MacDonald to tighten def a bit..might get Kessler today...Bruins size destroyed us...so I'm not happy because I feel like we did nothing to fix our major problem! Size and toughness

@rock316nyj  You sir, are what some may refer to as...stupid.
