In the Daily News, Marc Staal speaks about how the game to game variance in his ice time and how one big game sets a standard for how fresh he will feel.
“I think when you play a heavy amount of minutes and you come out the game after and you drop down two or three, you can feel a difference. You feel a lot fresher. Let’s say you play 26 and the next game you play 23, that 23 feels like it’s 18. So I think that’s a big help and a boost when your body gets used to playing a lot of those minutes.”
Staal added that he also feels fresher when the Rangers play with a more balanced bench.
He is averaging 23:43 per game this season.
