Buzz: Marc Staal Was Supposed To Start Skating

In the NY Post, Larry Brooks says that the Rangers had planned to announce that Marc Staal was to begin skating.

He says that the silence surrounding the situation isn’t encouraging:

Listen, maybe next week there will be good news on Staal. Maybe the week after or the week after that. Maybe the Rangers won’t have to move anyone.

But maybe not. Maybe Staal won’t be able to play this year.

We sure don’t know. The Rangers don’t either. This is one case where no news is not good news, not good news at all.

On Tuesday night Joe said on the broadcast that the team was possibly gonna give an update on Staal on Wednesday.

Brooks thinks that the Rangers should call Nashville to inquire about Ryan Suter.

this is a tough situation. I didn’t think that Joe would bring up the possibility of an update on Staal if it wasn’t good news and it sounds like it would have been. All we can do is wait. It seems like he had made some progress but maybe had a setback. Whatever the case, whether its a team announcement or in the paper, I would expect something on Staal soon.

Phil is absolutely right, this guy is promoted as a three point shooter yet he hits about 20 percent of his three pointers. As for Phils statement that Bargani will actually contribute, I believe that is what we call a pipe dream. Rarely has a player tried as little to help his team as this one.

Two years ago just after the Knicks acquried Bargs I ran into a friend who is a european sports journalist who knows Bargnani pretty well.  I asked the fellow ,  "is this trade good for NY?"

to which he replied, "if he's healthy".

Truer words still resonate 2+ years later

Best you can hope for with Barniani is that he can get on the court and play well enough to build decent trade value so they can trade him for disposable contracts and maybe 2nd rd pick...

We trade for Bargnani and Woodson had him shooting threes. We hire Phil and he says Bargnani shouldn't be taking threes. I think I know who I'll go with on this one.

Everyone needs to come bake to TKB the Knickway is pretty much just an annoying chat room, and all the articles are written by bloggers that are biased and unqualified

What happened to TKB? I'm usually a reader, not a commenter, but what happened to the comments section?? I'm looking at the last few week's posts, they all have less than 10 comments. Just a year ago, I saw 1000+ comments on some posts.

Did something happen that I missed?

When all is said and done with this guy, it will be a lot more than three games that he misses this season.

Probably a blessing in disguise.  Forces them to play defensive minded players up front (Jason Smith, Acy) in his place, which this team desperately needs.  Could also translate into more minutes for Dalembert (and possibly Aldrich), which wouldn't be a bad thing.

@towlie22 We have a long season that has not started yet to see how Bargs helps the Knicks or himself (in his walk year).  Hammy's are tough, I'm guessing when he returns he has a pretty good year.  I doubt he gets traded, I think Jax wants to let Amare and Bargs walk at the end of the year,  to open up salary and trade possibilities.  Then again if there are trades to be made and they need big salaries to offer, they have them.

Either way get ready for another wild ride, another knicks season.

A year ago did anyone predict or project what was to happen to the Knicks last season?  That it all would have gone so nutzo?

The one thing we have today is a good one…..HOPE!

@knickstape Since everyone left, the writing has IMPROVED (good in some, but still ehhhh in others) and is more consistent.

That said, the comment system here is still fudged up.  NEED TO IMPROVE THAT before we come back.

@knickstape  What makes the writers here more qualified? Maybe you should come to the other site and show us how to write.

@Ghanem Daibes at the knick way, there have been 900 and 1000 comment posts for game threads already....and its the pre-season....oh, and I mean during the game, not the amount of comments that happen after the game.

@Ghanem Daibes Something happened and people went to the knicks way web site. I prefer to stay here. Hopefully people will come back

@1harris1 I think Smith will benefit the most. Acy's style of play will limit his minutes. I dont think he can play all-out for mort than 20-25 min a game and be effective.

@jimm1200 @knickstape agree its anyying to get banned but i also don't think TKB wants this place becoming a chat room with a bunch of people arguing about Sh!t the not even basketball related. its a basketball blog debate ball  and you won't get banned

@jimm1200 @Ghanem Daibes and 800 are the knickslady talking about herself and trolling for dates, the rest are sandro going at it with the rest…(but I'm just guessing:)

I was actually upset about them bouncing everyone from here but too lazy to join them.

@David Rivera @1harris1 Ditto Dalembert.  I've seen him a lot in his career and unless he's got a new outlook, Dalembert always impressed in  short spurts and then too his food off the gas or ran out of gas. I'm not sure. He can look really good and go flat rather quickly. probably why he hasn't become a very significant player in the league.

I hope bargs returns soon, same with Calderon, who I think is going to help Bargnani be effective, IF he ever gets on the court.
