Read: The Rangers and JT Miller’s Long Term Development

At the United States of Hockey, Chris Peters looks at JT Miller and the role he could have for Team USA at the World Junior Championships…..if the Rangers allow him to play in the tournament. (Note: Reports said yesterday that Miller would be allowed to play.)

Peters writes “When it comes to first-round picks like Miller, the investment a team makes is a big one, so no one can blame the Rangers for doing whatever they want with their property.”

On why he thinks the Rangers should allow Miller to play, Peters says that the experience of playing in the tournament this year, against many players who should be playing in the NHL right now and that Miller would have a major role for Team USA playing in all situations and being in a leadership role.

Miller would miss nine games with the Whale but play in six or seven high pressure, competitive games for Team USA.

The Rangers refused to let Evgeny Grachev play for Russia in his first season in Hartford and ended up regretting the move.

THIS SECTION is about all things JT Miller.

I have doubts about this report... but that doesn't mean it isn't true.

True or not, I still hate Idzik.  This guy has been awful.  He had every opportunity to make significant moves this year and did less than nothing.  He needs to go immediately.

I will not, and CAN NOT support this team if John "death by one thousand cuts" Idzik is running this team and Rex isn't coaching it.

DOWN WITH IDZIK!

Congratulations Woody Johnson, you have the team you have always wanted:

A STEAMING PILE OF POO.

This is off topic, but do you think the Jets should look into trading for RGIII?

Redskins appear to be done with him and are benching him for McCoy. Personally he is still young enough to turn this around with a better team and he might be a good fit for the players we have on offense.

Idzik makes me want to puke! I wonder what woody will think about Idzik setting Rex up to fail so he can hire his own coaches, when the last few home games are a ghost stadium?

I will say it unequivocally. I believe this is a phony story. There is no way that Idzik "has been telling people all along" that he planned to fire Rex. People who run businesses simply do not act like that. It didn't happen. I'm not saying the Post's so called reporting is necessarily false. Maybe other people have been spreading that rumor. But it didn't really happen. You've got to remember 2 things. 1) Idzik has a boss just like Ryan does. Acting like that would make Woody look like a total fool and I simply don't believe Idzik, or any person above the age of 12, would do that and keep their job for more than a week. 2) Ryan has literally been around the NFL for his whole life. It's a small community and I'm sure he knows just about everyone. He has a lot of friends in the coaching and scouting community. He's known them his whole life. Everybody sees the writing on the wall. If people are hearing these rumors, it's because Rex's friends (or friend) are orchestrating a campaign to soften the blow. Last night's game put a fork in Rex's career with the Jets. If Idzik has been saying these things "all along", then why are we just hearing about them today? Get ready, we're going to be hearing a lot more phony and dumb rumors for the next 5 weeks. The reporters will willingly publish them because there is nothing left to write about regarding the 2014 season.

FIRE IDZIK

HIRE GAMBLE

metjetnet

I've had it.

Idzik is a disgusting weasel. And needs to be fired.

He has sullied the very office he so clearly & desperately hungered for. He easily could have declined Woody's coach-equipped job offer if he couldn't live with those terms. He clearly wanted to fire Rex before last year. His next goal was at the end of the season, but Rex's inspired job of getting Idzik's godawful semi-pro roster to 8-8 tied The Weasel's hands. Watching Idzik look into a camera & lie to our faces about the team, winning & about Rex all season, when any two-year-old could look at that roster & see he was clearly submarining Rex in order to shed him at year's end. Plus he disappeared for much of the season -- just dumped this bad high school roster on Rex & joined Dick Cheney in his secret bunker, forcing Rex to "own the public face" of this debacle. And take the blame from media types & fans...

If Idzik had an ounce of balls he would have just fired Rex after last year's finale in Miami, sentiment or not. Rex did not deserve this thorough, season-long trashing of his career, personality & abilities, and being told "Playoffs or be fired!", then being handed an even more hideous roster than last year's incompetents.

I've been a Jets fan since Harry Wismer founded the franchise as the Titans, and have bled Green & White all my life.

But after this year's disgusting debacle of Idzik's Folly ends, I'm done with the Jets until The Weasel is gone.

I also will follow any team bright enough to hire Rex.

And my heart will break each week when I watch a decent roster that's coached by Rex "play like a __(fill in the blank)__" and march confidently into the playoffs, year after year, while the Jets languish in the devastation that The Weasel leaves behind him when he eventually is escorted out of the building.

Add in The Weasel's complete lack of ability in creating a roster, or assembling an NFL-caliber draft, and you've got the recipe for disaster. The very disaster we're looking at currently.

I can cope with Fake Spikes, Mud Bowls, broken vertebrae, Heidi & all the rest of it. But I WILL NOT TOLERATE another moment of The Weasel.

How does Woody keep this guy running his team??? i don't get it. he can't be that detached from reality. he must  know that jet fans will go off the wall if he keeps idzik and lets him fire Rex.

I would imagine Rex would be a source for this or someone very close to him...

Floyd Toucanet

Convenient excuse for idzik. I picked all these horrible players on purpose! Its all part of my plan, next year i will start picking for real.

UncleJoe

I m starting to lose my cool with this dysfunctional organization!!!!!!!!!

UncleJoe
UncleJoe

Welp, Idzik was right, he has a plan.

Floyd Toucanet
Floyd Toucanet

Which means the only head coach that will be willing to come here will be some assistand from Seattle. Does anyone believe a quality head coaxh would come and work under Idzik after he set his last head coach up for failure so he could get ri  of him? That makes it next year and perhaps even the year after that will be more ineptitude and a horrible team. Sets the Jets up for hope in 2017.

Unless woody gets rid of everyone and starts over. We need a offensiv minded younger college coach. So sick of these offensive strategies based on ideas from the 70s. Even a college spread attack would be more exciting than th  offense the jets have ran for the last ten years. Its so boring.

Wow... This is tabloid journalism at its best. I would like to congratulate Mark Cannizzaro for his imagination and his good good bullsht.. lol

John Idzik should be fired and be taken out behind a wood-shed and taught a lesson

What a disgrace for a GM and person

Disgusting

If this is true and Idzik set Ryan up for failure, his (Idziks') NFL Career should be over...

hitchhiker

The fact that this accusation seems plausible is proof that Idzik should be first in line to be fired after the season.

chicagofan

If true, then totally unprofessional.  This is junior high school stuff; no way to run a professional franchise.

Though, I would be skeptical - could be from Idzik; could also be Ryan's gallows sensibility.  Or the reporter just made it up.  Or a combination of all three.

I posted earlier today that the franchise has no vision, direction or credibility.  This just reinforces my belief.  I remember, many years ago, Pete Rozelle stepped in and forced the Giants to hire George Young because what was happening was bad for the league.  Are we at a similar moment for the Jets???

Wolf

This team is a disgrace. Hang Idzik from the nearest tree!

jets3980

my god is Woody kidding? how is he allowing this amateur act to keep embarrassing his team!!! does he even understand how bad this gm is?? how is he is going to keep this idiot? please Woody please you can't be this blind!

Kevin Hurd

So not only is Idzik shitty at drafting players and conducting press conferences but apparently he is also willing to sabotage an entire season so he can hire his own head coach. Awesome. We're in good hands.

I doubt it everyone complains about Rex and we are still here as jet fans.

Wolf

Most definitely. Sounds like Rex may be taking a break after this year which mean we'll hear a lot more soon enough.

Ed D
Ed D

@bob Its not like he made Rex start a second year QB, never got him any CBs to play his defense (which is CB dependent) and left holes and depth woes all over this team with 20 million in cap space

All while basically getting 1 player to be productive out of 12 draft picks

Best WR draft in decades...we have ZERO catches from our 3 draft picks

Yea I would say that Idzik was FULLY committed to Rex...

John Idzik = JOKE OF A GM AND AS A MAN

@chicagofan I think we may be at that point...

One thing is for certain...John Idzik must never be allowed to make another decision for this team

jdb4

@Pat d

Well that isn't surprising when everyone knows the jig.  There is no continuity in the organization and that will be reflected on the field.

Yes, some of that falls on Rex, but when the players know the coach doesn't have support, they aren't going to be focused.

Ed D
Ed D

@Eddy Lopez How many FIRE REX RYAN billboards and planes have been flown over the Jets practice facility???

Any educated Jet fan I know acknowledges that while Rex is flawed, the MAIN reason we are where we are as a team this year is Idzik

bob
bob

@a57se @bob

After Revis and Tannabaum putting to much money into certain players and bad contracts Woody said when interviewed after hiring Idzik that he didn't want to spend money read the Interview on Rex about Revis. and things obviously just didn't go as plan with the youth movement. In that interview Woody was asked about being under the cap.

So we are down to this is crap reading when a team looses.

a57se
a57se

@Ed D @a57se

If he goes into TV like the article suggests, he may say a few things but if he wants to continue coaching, he'll keep quiet and put up a front.

Ed D
Ed D

@hitchhiker No six year old deserves that, but this dirtbag does

A lot of us feared this from free agency...Cannizaro must know something to run something like this

Kevin Hurd
Kevin Hurd

It would certainly explain the mystery of why a team with a defense so dependent on CBs entered the season with no decent CBs and $20m under the cap despite several good CBs being available.

bharper42
bharper42

@Ed D @Eddy Lopez non sense.  the reason we're here is horribad coaching.  injuries didn't help either.  idzik should be fired for drafting pryor and mcdougle over all of the WR talent available but not because of the situation we're in.  that falls on ryan.

Ed D
Ed D

@bob @a57se Bob the Jets spent money this year like the Jaguars...the Jacksonville Jaguars

They could have brought in veterans to round out the holes and depth on this team on short term contracts, with no real financial commitment past this year

This was a screw job from the start

Ed D

@a57se @Ed D What I dont understand is how he thought in this city, with the media we have, with the zero BS tolerance of the NY Metro area...how he thought no one would see this or find out about this

@a57se @Ed D Dude this is going to be a disaster...its an admission that the Jets front office SABOTAGED his own coach TANKED a season

It destroys any and all credibility John Idzik has or had with the fan base

This is the death blow for John Idzik as well
