Larry Brooks tweets that the Rangers will announce roster moves tomorrow morning and that JT Miller is expected to be called up.
Alain Vigneualt said today that without Rick Nash and Carl Hagelin for the immediate future, the team was looking to add some more skilled players.
One player that they may consider calling up is JT Miller, who in 3 games for the Wolf Pack has 4 goals and 11 shots
His four goals have come
- From just outside the crease, Miller puts a rebound into an empty net
- Ryan Bourque hits the post and Miller puts in the rebound at the far post
- From just inside the right faceoff circle, Miller deflects the puck in
- From in between the circles and in close, Miller puts home a Marek Hrivik pass
Alain Vigneault said that Miller was sent down because “In talking with both Glenn and Jeff about our numbers situation, we just felt that him being such a young player that he needed to play and having two extra forwards didn’t make sense. We are playing against LA and SJ, two big teams so I knew I was going to put Arron in the lineup sooner than later so we just felt that it was better to send him to Hartford to play some games, he played today and I heard he scored two goals. Real good start for him.”
Leslie Treff writes at HF Rangers that Miller looked like a complete player in his game last Sunday for the Wolf Pack. She says that Miller was playing with “passion and a fire that exceeded every other skater on the ice.” Treff says that Miller looks to be NHL ready but he told her that the team told him to focus on being consistent night in and night out.
Treff writes at Hockey’s Future that Miller is NHL ready and using his frame and skating skills to go to the net and bang along the boards.
