Derick Brassard said after the game on MSG, “I think our goalie was the best player tonight. In the second they outplayed us but Hank made some good saves. In the third we played desperate and we find a way to win.”

During the game, John Giannone tweeted that the Islanders were as frustrated as any team has been this season because of Lundqvist, ”

Joe Micheletti said on MSG after the game, “He has confidence, I talked with Benoit Allaire and he talks about when he is patient and lets the puck come to him is when he is on top of his game. He was so good in this game and made so many key saves. He was finding the pucks and was so good in the game against a team that really knows how to generate scoring chances.”

Dave Maloney said on MSG, “the last two games have reminded me of Henrik Lundqvist’s role with the Rangers. Whenever he has to make a big save….. he makes a big save and then his team finds a goal.”

Lundqvist said after the game, on MSG,

  • It was good to be back on Garden ice. It felt really good to have preparations back to normal, a fun game. It was a lot of fun to be out there, it was intense and the chances were both ways and both teams played hard and going down the stretch you will be seeing more and more of these types of games where you have to work really hard to get in front of the net and the little plays will be the difference.”
  • I think the last two games, playing this team obviously I sit down with Benoit and look at what they like to do and they go across too much and if you are too aggressive you will have a lot of open nets. I tried to stay back and stay in good position and I felt confident and the way that we played in front gave me confidence. They are a skilled team and had some big chances but we did a good job.”
  • You can’t expect to have 50,000 in the stands every night. Emotionally it is different, to play two games like that you jhust have to expect, I wouldn’t say a letdown because we were excited to be back and play against this team again, it was just different and we had to settle in. I thought we played another strong team game and again came out in the third and made a big push and it was a great feeling when it pays off like that.”

Lundqvist and Staal both stood out probably the most but I am LOVING the energy that we're seeing from our 3rd and 4th line.. Carcillo better stay in, the hell with Dorsett, who misses him?
