10AM: At Aftonbladet, Lundqvist said that the two sides are talking, not many details can be provided and he is focusing on the year he has left on his contract.
He reiterated that he didn’t mandate that a contract be done this summer and didn’t want to put pressure on himself or the organization to make sure it was done.
When asked about the idea of being the highest paid player in the league, Lundqvist said to ask him if/when it happens.
7AM: During the Swedish Olympic camp, Henrik Lundqvist spoke with SVT about his contract situation.
Lundqvist said that talks between his camp and the Rangers are going in the right direction and that he wouldn’t be opposed to an eight-year contract that would see him finish his career with the Rangers.
He said that he loves being a Ranger, is comfortable in New York and it would be hard to see himself playing anywhere else.
Lundqvist said that he understands that the deal may not be done before the season and didn’t want to put extra pressure on getting a deal done this summer.
