Read: John Tortorella Believes In Derek Stepan

Derek Stepan has one goal and three assists through ten games and is pointless in four of his last five games.

Stepan is averaging 2:10 on the PK and was put on a line with Carl Hagelin and Rick Nash during the game against the Islanders.

John Tortorella told the Daily News that he believes Stepan will answer the bell and embrace the position the Rangers have him in, “I think he’s beginning to play better.  He’s a very important guy. He’s a young man who we have slotted into a number two center. What I know of him, and honestly I know him very well now, I think he’s going to answer. It’s been a little inconsistent in his game, but I know he’s going to get better. That’s what I rely on in my head.”

Earlier this year, tn the Daily News, Rangers legend Adam Graves was asked about Stepan and praised his ability on both ends of the ice, “he’s a very efficient penalty killer, finishes his checks, makes plays, last season you saw that playing with Gaborik, and is a player that as a winger you enjoy playing with because if you’re open he finds you. He’s also a young man that I think loves the game.”

Graves added, “I think he’s someone that really drives on responsibility and he wants to get better and wants to win.”

Haha when I sarcastically referred to these two teams as "International Powerhouses" I honestly had no idea they were about to face each other.  Guess it went about as well as expected.

As a general rule, I've found you're more likely to score a penalty kick if you kick it between the goal posts, under the cross bar and not right in the middle of the goal where the goalie is.

I actually left to go put air in the tires of a friend's car when the score was still 0-0 after 9. Then I drove it around Beverly Hills for a bit, because it's a 5.0 Mustang. When I got back, there were still 4 innings to go.

I had it on while working on my photos...Keith's progressively louder and more annoyed sighing was hilarious.

I wish someone would do a video compilation of Keith getting annoyed during the game. It would be amazing.

Hernandez was annoyed with the Mets when Plawecki was on third base and nobody out and couldn't score.

I was thinking let it go Keith......let it go. Keith is going to have a stroke with the way this offense it sputtering.

During a game a couple weeks ago that went into extra innings, he was outright yelling at nobody in particular because of how bad they looked.

Although I think the best Keith moment of this year was when he backhandedly made fun of the Fox announcer by saying never in the history of baseball has anyone ever bunted a runner over to 3rd with 1 out.

@Brendan @Disgruntled Jets Fan Around the 12th inning or so, Gary told Keith to go put on a uniform and grab a bat.  It might have worked, too.

If this was a home game, I have a feeling Keith would've just said, screw this, I'm going home.

@Bent I can't believe I watched the whole thing.

That counts as two wins in the standings, right?

I think they salvotaged their season.

Now Sandy can say they racked up 16 hits and came through in the clutch so we don't need a bat.

And they actually executed a squeeze play. I assume Sandy has disconnected his phone. "We're all good now."

I think it was called "Bear in the Big House" in the UK.  Not sure if US version had a different name.

I think the character is called "Bear".

Sandy Alderson should be forced to watch this game in solitary confinement until the trade deadline.

@juunit @Bent @J. Smooth

That's really the all-time record?

They had a shot at that when the bases were loaded with none out.

CAN'T THIS TEAM DO ANYTHING* RIGHT?

(*apart from pitching)

Antonio Cromartie is one of the 10 best players and Chris Ivory isn't............I hope Cro has a big year.

@Disgruntled Jets Fan

Didn't that happen just like two years ago?

Unfortunately the pitcher hit for himself, so he's sticking around for now. Maybe in the 20th.

On the upshot, if this fiasco doesn't cause the front office to make a trade, we'll know there isn't one coming.

They'll win and this will be presented as evidence that they do, in fact, have a "good enough" offense.

Looking forward to the 21st innning stretch.

It looks like Cards are about to win it, otherwise I was looking forward to watching the mets hitters fail to score against a position player pitching.

Edit: this may still happen
