In the Ottawa Sun, Bruce Garrioch lists Dan Boyle as one of the top five players available at the trade deadline.
Garrioch says that the Rangers have been sniffing around Boyle and that Glen Sather has been “itching to make a move to bring in an impact player.”
He adds that Boyle doesn’t just help on the ice and with the power play, he adds leadership to the dressing room.
THIS SECTION is all about Dan Boyle.
Boyle, after he met with Tortorella and Mike Sullivan after a game in 2009, told a Tampa Bay paper “As I was telling him the other day, we had a lot of ups and downs, a lot of battles. But at the end of the day we both have respect for each other.”
Adam Rotter: I don’t know if Dan Boyle is the answer to the Rangers defense/power play issues. He certainly provides them with a proper PP QB, logs a lot of minutes and has a history with John Tortorella. If he was a pending UFA I think it would be more of a certain move to make for the Rangers, but with him signed for next season at $6.6 million it’s a much tougher decision. The price to get him out of SJ needs to be determined and that may be the biggest issue with finding a match between the two teams.
