Would anyone be opposed to signing Houston in the FA, along with a CB and OG.  seems to me that would free up coples and give us one of the most ridiculous pass rushes we have seen in a while. On paper at least.  I wanna see us draft an ILB as well, cause everything points to Harris getting released.  ideally for me is Houston, Iupati, and a top CB, not sure who I would want yet, in the FA. Either Cooper at 6 or trade back and get Devante Parker, Hundley in the 2nd if he is there, BPA at ILB, CB, O line, and RB with our next 4 picks.  just a dream.

What if we were to draft Danny Shelton with the first pick.. Pew pew pew

well, I guess a little continuity for the OL.  Wonder what was the basis for keeping a couple of people from the previous regime.

Round 1 Amari Cooper WR Alabama

Round 2 Duke Johnson RB Miami

Round 3 DJ Humpries OT Florida

Round 4 Nate Orchard OLB Utah

Round 5 Shaq Mason G Georgia Tech

Round 7 Michael Dyer  RB Louisville

Don't go with consensus, Cooper would be a terrible pick at 6. Do your own research win throwing out picks.

Geno's saying that he's gonna come back bigger and stronger. If he get's the mental part of the game better we may have our QB. He's gonna need Percey Harvin or some really good receiver to help out to be fair for the guy. All good QB's have at least 1 good one.

Mariota might fall but I wouldn't love that pick and everyone else is basically ryan Lindley outside of the top two guys. I'd be happy with baby arm Fitzpatrick

@Brendan

Well duh.

But I'll remain cautious in my optimism unless someone on the team outright says they're drafting a QB early. Which almost definitely will not happen.

@Brendan

We're gonna sign Tim Tebow and draft Nick Montana.

@J. Smooth

You know what's cool about this photo that he's with his dad.

Brendan

@J. Smooth Basically, Josh Gordon needs someone like Gronkdad, who just carries his shtfaced son around America, ensuring he's always in a cab, never driving. Actually, I don't even know if Gronk is aware he's allowed to drive a car. Okay, bad example.

It saves them money in terms of stationery costs.

Alternative answer: Eric Allen could be bothered to write any more bios for the official site.

Stop with the Cooper stuff . I haven't seen the guy do anything in film.

Now I ask, what do you like about him?

J. Smooth

@bradysucks I like it. But why Dyer and Johnson both? I like the Dyer value there, but I don't think a Round 2 running back is worth it unless its Melvin Gordon or Tevin Coleman.

@Zartan I somewhat disagree - Cooper is unlikely to be a terrible pick, but I think there are probably players I would rate higher, or WRs that would better fit our needs with a slightly lesser grade.

However, having started the tape analysis early this year, I'd be ok with taking Cooper, certainly over either of the two QBs being touted.

WR, O-line, RB and OLB seem to be the position groups where we could find a couple of impact players early on this year to me.

No cop in Boston is ever giving gronk a dui.

(fighting the urge to compare you to Colin Cowherd for just saying basically that Josh Gordon's problem is he doesn't have a dad)

@Brendan @bob I don't think you can pin this on the NFL. Dude has been given chance after chance, not like this is his first time in Goodell's office.

Hi Brendan yep it does. All that money. Its party time

Dyer would be drafted much higher if not for off the field issues. He could be a steal in the 7th round but it's a risky pick. Duke Johnson is a blue chip RB prospect in this draft with great speed and pass catching ability. He would fill a need on the Jets. The Jets haven't had a receiver out of the backfield who can also gain yards as a back since LT retired

Dyer gives you a guy on special teams with potential to be a good RB while Johnson gives you another scorer as both a runner and as a receiver from the backfield.

@J. Smooth I think it's possible to think Gordon is a dope while still thinking the NFL sucks hard for stuff like this.

@J. Smooth @Brendan @bob Well, yes he's been in the principal's office before, but the problem is more that he's getting a full suspension for giggling in class while another kid who punched a teacher in the face got two days detention.

Hope Josh can settle down. He's such a great player.

@bradysucks I understand that, but I wonder if the second round is a little early to draft a guy to be a 2nd option at running back (since I still imagine Ivory is the starter). Barring big free agent moves I'd imagine that a defensive back would be high up on the list to draft too, and maybe a Quarterback.

Yup.  The rules were clearly spelled out and Gordon deserves the criticisms leveled at him for failing to abide by those rules and putting his career in jeopardy and letting down his teammates.

That being said, those rules are pretty damn stupid and should be changed, and I'm more upset with the NFL for their dumb rules and inconsistent penalties than I am with Josh Gordon for breaking them.

Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon are gonna miss more time for putting chemicals into their bodies that never actually put anyone in any danger (nor gave them any advantage on the field) than Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, Greg Hardy, Ray McDonald, and Jonathan Dwyer will miss for physically assaulting women and children.

That's crazy.

I'm reading a book about the 1986 Mets called "The Bad Guys Won" by Jeff Pearlman.  Those guys drank their asses off and Josh Gordon would have felt right at home hanging with them.

Problem is the times have changed and Josh didn't read the memo.

If I were advising him I would tell him to enter rehab like Johnny did and clean up his image. They both need to make football the number priority in their lives and party their butts off when their careers are done.

Can I throw the race card again ?

@bob The Browns' statement on it is so tone deaf, I hate that organization.

The NFL should not suspend a guy for a year because he misunderstood the parameters of his "probation" and had an alcoholic beverage while with his teammates. The league that makes tens of millions of dollars off of alcohol shouldn't be so hypocritical.

Hopefully Josh gets away from the Browns, comes back in a year like a man possessed and puts this behind him.

I am not sure that Johnson would be a second option at RB. He is a better receiver than Ivory and he is a very good runner. Ivory runs over people. Johnson is more of an LT style running back who can make cuts and has speed. He makes guys miss.

I will be amazed if Duke Johnson is not drafted somewhere in the first 2 rounds of this draft

I draft him in round 2 because I view him as another game breaking scoring threat which the Jets badly need on their roster

I'd argue that a DUI puts plenty of people in danger. I agree that the rules are stupid, but if you drive drunk, you're an idiot and I have no objection with the NFL suspending you.

It's more about making sure the owners and the commissioner look like they are doing the right thing as they continue to stuff their pockets with gold.

Screw the little people and their talent and whatever problems they might have.

@bradysucks

Duke is special. I wouldn't be all that surprised if he was gone before our 2nd round pick. He'd definitely be worth that pick. IMO, he's a more talented Shady McCoy.

However, David Johnson would be a good consolation prize. His brother from another mother. They aren't really brothers. But David is similarly talented in the arts of catching the football.

@J. Smooth They suspended Jim Irsay for a few weeks and take his tweets away, so same thing, I guess.

@juunit @bradysucks

We should do an All-Johnson draft.

R1#6 - RB Duke Johnson, Miami

R2#37 - CB Kevin Johnson, Wake Forest

R3#70 - RB David Johnson, Northern Iowa

R5#146 - ILB A.J. Johnson, Tennessee

R6#181 - G Kaleb Johnson, Rutgers

R7#221 - SS Isaiah Johnson, Georgia Tech

@Brendan @J. Smooth If it had been Josh Gordon's first offense it would have only been a few weeks, but I'm pretty sure it was like his fifth.

Brendan

@Bklyn Dude Or the front office didn't get stupid and disassemble the team. The partying hurt them in two very obvious examples (Doc/Straw), though.

Brendan

@J. Smooth For booze, though. Jim Irsay drives around hopped up on pills making it rain. Josh got high a few times, and had some drinks on an airplane. I would think the former makes the league look much worse, tbh.
