In seven games this season, Carl Hagelin is scoreless, is a minus three, six penalty minutes, 16 shots, 12 hits and five giveaways in around 16:30 of ice time.
After five games, Hagelin said that he had really only played well in two of them and that he needed to be better.
John Tortorella praised Hagelin’s game on Tuesday, minus the dumbness of his penalty, and said that he was the Rangers best player.
When asked how he felt about not scoring so far this season, Hagelin told Rangers website that he won’t let that stop him from playing his game, “I am not going to get down because I haven’t scored a goal. I always try to stay positive and help the team win whether it’s a good back check or tiring their defense out, all those things matter. Of course you want to score but I know that will come.”
He added, “the last three games I have had a lot of chances and created chances for my teammates. It’s a matter of the puck going in. I’m not too worried about it. I just need to play my game and keep creating and putting pressure on their D and you never know what it might cost them at the end of the game.”
Hagelin is also seeing 1:44 on the PK this season.
