Recap: Alain Vigneault’s Post Game Comments

Alain Vigneault’s post game comments, via MSG,:

  • On last night not counting, “To tell you the truth, I thought this one of our better games. I look at the way we played, the number of chances we were able to generate. I liked that part of our game, I didn’t like our finish but we ran into a goalie who was sharp and played real well. Defensively we had some breakdowns and bounces that didn’t go our way, but there was a lot things that I liked about our game. A few areas we need to clean up and then we will be in good shape, that is why you have a training camp.
  • On the first period, “we had the pace the way we wanted, we carried the play and Louie made some saves. They got a little break on their second goal, it’s probably one Hank would like to have back but they got one early in the second.”

  • On the goalie plans for tonight, “I had planned to play Marty but since Hank didn’t get a full game I will think about it. There is a good possibility that he will get thrown back in there.”
  • On getting applause early in the game from the Canucks, “It was nice to hear after they put my little face on the camera, but like I said this morning. I gotta turn the page now.”
  • Are there jobs to be won or lost now, “Ummmm, that is a tough one. There are a lot of players right now that are close, but haven’t really shown to me that they can play at this level on a consistent basis. There will still be some young guys in the lineup tomorrow but they will need to show more.”
  • Who is in against the Kings, “I  haven’t made that decision yet. I will think about it on the plane after I talk to Glen.”
  • On Ryan Callahan, “Callahan, like I mentioned this morning has been cleared for contact, he took contact in practice. That is the final step in coming back.”
  • Is the season opener possible for Cally, “no, no, no.”
