Recap: Alain Vigneault’s Post Game Comments

Alain VigneaultAlain Vigneault met with the media, on MSG, following the Rangers loss to the Canucks:

  • How to generate more offense, “our guys are doing a lot of the right things. They used their speed, we spent time in the Philly end. We tried to get pucks through guys in front. Give them credit, they did a good job defending and the goalie made a few nice saves. It was a tie game going to the third. We did a good job killing the 5 minutes and gave ourselves a chance.”
  • On Cam Talbot, “he gave us a chance to win. He made the saves he had to make. That is what we want and that is what we need from our goaltenders. Hopefully next time we will be able to get more goals.”

  • On the 5 minute major, “I just looked at it quickly after the period. The refs thought it was a 5 minutes, I thought Pouliot was trying to go shoulder to shoulder and Talbot lost his step a little bit and fell awkwardly into the boards. They felt he deserved a major and a 5 minute misconduct.”
  • On the compete level, “I thought our guys tried extremely hard and did a lot of things we talked about. Our offensive execution was a little off but I thought it was a better effort in my estimation.”
  • On the waived off goal, “ref said that they called it a good goal and Toronto called it off. Not sure why.”
