Yesterday against the Capitals, Ryan McDonagh had two assists and played nearly 26 minutes.
John Tortorella said after the game that it was the most consistent that McDonagh had played in some time. Tortorella added, “he was very confident carrying the puck. The standard is set so high for him that when there is a hiccup you start to wonder what is wrong with him. He is still a young man learning the position and he played really well.”
After the game, McDonagh credited, his performance to “having some good legs” and using his skating to clear pucks out the zone and beat people up the ice.
McDonagh is averaging 24:03 per game and has two goals and eight assists this season with a plus four rating.
