Last night was the first of potentially six games that the Rangers will be without Ryan Callahan as he recovers from the shoulder injury he suffered on Tuesday against the Flyers.
Callahan is expected to be out 10-14 days.
Joe Micheletti said on the MSG Post Game show, “It looked like a huge void with him not being in the lineup.”
Andrew Gross wrote at Ranger Rants, “Cally is clearly the Rangers’ heart-and-soul leader but the absence shouldn’t have been felt this keenly.”
Ryan McDonagh told the NY Post, “Obviously we miss him. He’s a big-time leader, big-time player, he leads by example all over the ice, but injuries are part of the game. We have veterans and other guys who’ve seen how he plays. How we want to play as a team doesn’t change because he’s out of the lineup.”
John Tortorella said on the post game show last night that the Rangers missed having Ryan Callahan in front of the net on the PP. Callahan has two of the Rangers three PP goals.
In terms of his injury, Callahan told the NY Post “It definitely could have been a lot worse. It’s just a matter of a little bit of rehab, treatment and getting back at it.”
