The Associated Press is reporting that the Buffalo Sabres are taking an active approach in trying to improve their team and willing to trade players or draft picks to improve a team that underperformed last season.
The report suggests that the Sabres could look at Paul Stastny or Jordan Staal and that Regier has been making more calls than he is receiving.
On the kind of player he is looking to add, Regier said, “If you have an opportunity to add someone who’s either under contract or is a high-profile player at a … reasonable cost, then certainly that’s something we’ll pursue.”
It has been suggested that the Buffalo Sabres could be a dark horse in the Rick Nash derby.
Nash is from Brampton, Ontario which is only two hours away from Buffalo.
The Sabres own the 12th pick in the draft and four of the top 44 picks. They have young players like Cody Hodgson, Nathan Gerbe and Tyler Ennis along with prospects Joel Armia, Mark Pysyk, Marcus Foligno and Luke Adam.
Ryan Miller is under contract for two more seasons.
