Over the weekend it was reported that Mats Zuccarello has come to an agreement in principle to sign with a team in the KHL.
Zuccarello then tweeted that he hoped to be back with the Rangers next season.
Today, at Rangers break up day, Zuccarello told Rangers Report, “I love being a New York Ranger…but I can’t play 10 games. That’s not enough for me.”
In two seasons with the Rangers, Zuccarello played 52 games for the Rangers and had eight goals and 18 assists. While playing for the Whale, Zucc had 14 goals and 25 assists in 47 games.
Zuccarello is reportedly in search of a one-way contract that would pay him the same amount if he was sent down to the AHL.
Zuccarello’s last contract paid him $900,000 when he was on an NHL roster and $67,500 while in the AHL.
