Read: Where Marc Staal Could End Up In Rangers History

Marc Staal Broadway HatIn the August issue of Rangers magazine Blueshirt Bulletin, they look at a few candidates who could in the future have their numbers retired by the Rangers.

Assistant captain Marc Staal is considered to be one of the top choices after being the Rangers first round pick in 2005.

They write, “his stay-at-home style is mirrored similarly to Harry Howell with solid positioning and nightly challenge of matching up against the opponent’s top offensive threats,:

Staal is signed for three more seasons under his current contract.


Adam Rotter: If Staal can fight the urge to join his brothers in Carolina and instead spend the bulk of his career, if not all, with an “A” on his Rangers jersey, you would think he would have a good shot at it. Aside from last year with his concussion issues, Staal has been a rock on defense for the Rangers and the guy that the defense has been built around. Staal has had some big moments already as a Ranger but his best days are still probably ahead.
