Read: The JT Miller Situation Right Now

JT MillerSince being called up, JT Miller has played in eight games and has played at least 10 minutes in 6 of those games..

He has 1 goal and 1 assist since returning and according to Extra Skater, when on the ice, the Rangers have had more than 50% of the shot attempts in 5 of the games games.

Miller said that he has worked on his defensive game lately and that he has become a more mature pro hockey player this season. (NY Post)

Alain Vigneault likes JT Miller at center and likes how he has played both with and without the puck. He adds that he likes that Miller does bring versatility with an ability to play wing. (Daily News)

Miller has been a healthy scratch twice since being called back up, on 1/3 when Ryan Callahan returned and last nigh with the insert of Dan Carcillo.

Vigneault said on Wednesday that the coaches have been happy with Miller and that the more he has seen him the more he has seen the potential that Miller has to be an effective player.” (NY Post)

Adam Rotter: It’s pretty simple with Miller. If he is a healthy scratch for one, maybe two more games, he will be sent down and someone else will be called up to be the 13th forward. Miller has been better each time he has been called up but the rest of the Rangers forwards are healthy right now and he doesn’t have a defined spot. Miller needs to play to keep developing and there is nothing wrong with him going to Hartford and playing big minutes in all situations. That may be what it comes down to and Miller will get another call up when needed.

Why bring up Miller if he is going to be a healthy scratch the majority of the time. Doesn't make sense to have one of your top 5 prospects wasting away in the press box, Stop jerking him around and let him stay in Hartford to develop.

I like Miller more than Carcillo, but they offer completely different skill sets. Right now, Carcillo has something most other players on this team don't have. I like JT a lot, and I think he'll be a really good 2nd/3rd line center for the Rangers, but right now he reminds me of Kreider last year. He shows flashes of his potential, but then is more or less invisible for long stretches. It's not really a knock against him, I just think he's in the middle of developing, and it wouldn't hurt to give him a little more time in the AHL. It took Kreider about a year and a half after making his debut to "figure it out." Who knows how long it'll take for Miller. But I think the best course right now is to send him back to Hartford if he isn't going to play 10+ min a night in NY. Let him continue to learn, and hopefully, by next September, he will begin to display the consistency that Kreider has shown this year.

Agreed miller can be pencilled in next yr full time replacing Boyle or Moore. For now send him down for playing time and bring up powe ir asham to sit in the press box

I don't think the team direction is clear to anyone at this point. It's either to retool and load the team with young kids like JT and be a contender in a few years, or try to win the cup with personnel they have right now (which is a unattainable fantasy in my opinion.) If they want to retool, they need to trade Girardi and Cally in addition to Richard's buy out, sign a few goal scorers and bring talented kids up. If this is the direction, JT will definitely get his chance next season.. AV's tone has changes dramatically when he speaks about JT's game. I think he will have a legitimate shot down the road. He could be a good second center. LGR!!!

JT Miller will be an excellent 2nd line center for 10 years in this league.

wait.. nothing wrong with him being sent down in favor of someone who adds nothing but toughness? can't wait till next year maybe Miller gets a legit shot then

@Vic Scarpelli I agree he shouldn't be consistently scratched. However, he's not replacing Boyle or Moore. Miller isn't a 4th line player. He'll be replacing Richards (hopefully) once he's bought out.
