At the beginning of training camp, Rangers assistant coach/assistant GM Jim Schoenfeld spoke about JT Miller and said that how he performed would dictate where he would play this season.
Following the end of the Whale’s preseason yesterday Bruce Berlet wrote,”When training camp began, the Rangers had to determine if Miller would remain with the Whale or return to the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League. Rangers president/general manager Glen Sather & Co. will all need a collective lobotomy if Miller isn’t in the lineup Friday at 7:30 p.m. when the Whale opens the franchise’s 16th season at the XL Center in Hartford against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.”
Ken Gernander told Berlet that Miller is a “very savvy player” and that he and Chris Kreider are strong, good hockey players who will play in all situations for the Whale.
Berlet also writes that Miller, along with Kreider, were forwards on the ice protecting a one goal lead in yesterday’s win.
