In 18 games in the playoffs, Henrik Lundqvist has a goals against average of 1.64 and a save percentage of 93% while playing almost over 100 minutes more than the next goalie.
He has three shutouts, including two in this round, and four wins with over 30 shots against.
“As a goalie, you don’t get the choice of when you want to be there for your team. The most important thing for a goalie is to be there when you’re needed by the team, not when it might be easiest for you.
“It’s exciting for me to know that I can come through when the team needs me. That’s what this game is about, being there and competing for your teammates.”
Adam: I don’t want to say that Henrik Lundqvist has a free pass from me, but when you list the Rangers that you can throw blame on, he is at the very bottom of the list. He can’t be expected to stop every single shot thrown against him and can only carry the Rangers so far. At some point the Rangers need to score a goal to win a game. Henrik Lundqvist has nothing to prove to me to show that he is an elite goalie and one of the best in the world. He doesn’t shrink in the playoffs, in fact some of the best hockey he has ever played has come in the playoffs, he just can’t win games if the Rangers don’t score for him.
