At Yahoo, Nick Cotsonika writes this about the Rangers defenseman, “He had a scruffy playoff beard covering his gaunt cheeks. He had some old scars on the bridge of his nose, some freshly closed cuts above his left eyebrow and a brand-new bloody bruise on the side of his left eye. He had played 25 minutes and 11 seconds, more than any other skater in the game. He had blocked five shots, tied for the team high. He had thrown three hits and taken some hits, too.”
John Tortorella praised Girardi on MSG last night and how he has come up big for the Rangers in the playoffs so far.
Ryan McDonagh said, “he his a heck of a warrior and a big time player for us.”
On Girardi, Mike Rupp told the NY Post, “you have those warrior-type guys who do all the difficult things out there. Blocking shots, just taking hits to make plays, and he did that all. And he scored a big goal, too.”
Stats I wished I used in Girardi column. He played 2,152:20 in reg. season, second-most in NHL. Has played 412:20 in playoffs, most in NHL.
